    Purpose

    Comfort Kids aims to ensure that every child thrives throughout their healthcare journey by reducing trauma and distress associated with procedural care. Comfort Kids will support children, young people, their families, and staff by delivering education, training, and supervision; facilitating state-wide collaboration; and advancing evidence-based care through advocacy, increased choice, and empowerment.

    Our aims

    • To provide the best possible experience for all children undergoing medical procedures, supporting their families and the health professionals
    • To understand the needs of children and families undergoing medical procedures, ensuring their voices are heard 
    • To empower families to help during medical procedures, provide coping and resilience skills
    • To collaborate with health professionals, health services and consumers to implement quality outcomes 
    • To provide clinical leadership, education and training, consultation and support in the management of procedural pain and distress
    • To provide consultation and governance for safe and effective Procedural Sedation at the RCH (ward and ambulatory areas) 
    • To identify innovative strategies, support sustainable practice and promote cultural change in Procedural Pain Management
